Season 21 - Week 13

Amir spent the first 11 weeks of the season trolling the basement of the league,

Week 13 Winner...
Amirizona!

never much a final table threat and not even a Bubble to his name.  But after last week's 2nd place put him into striking range, a win this week was exactly what he needed to pass by Judy, Jagu, Jeremiah, Nicole, Chess, Mike and Andy, a veritable who's who of the BPC, and move into the Top 9 tied with The Milkman.  And a win is exactly what he got, congrats Amir!

Kurt has had a relatively quiet first half, with only a single pointing to his name, a 3rd back in Week 6.  But a 2nd place this week moves him up 5 spots into 14th, and importantly only 5 measly points out of the Top 9.  5.  Measly.  Points.

I got my 6th pointing of the season with a 3rd, my 3rd 3rd of the season.  I was in 3rd overall going into the week, and in 3rd for the last 3 weeks.  And with the the 3rd this week, I now remain in 3rd.  So I got that going for me.

And then there is Padma, who has moved into the dominant zone with yet another pointing, this time a 4th.  And with it she extends her overall lead to 24, which by any measure is a lot.

Jagu got the scrappy 5th, and Dermo notches a back-to-back Bubble Boy.

We are officially past the halfway point of the season, and outside of Padma who is running away with it again, everything is still very much wide open.  Most of the pack is only separated by a single large pointing.  String a couple of those together like Amir did, and it's season changing.

That was pretty funny, but probably a better question is now how am I?

I have no words.

OK those quotes were actually from the Taffeta Classic and not Week 12, but they were good enough to write down so there you have it.  And I didn't last very long in Week 12 so don't have much, including pictures.  But what I do know:

Padma took back control of overall 1st place last week, wresting it back from Remo who was bold enough to hold on to it for 3 weeks.

With a win in Week 12, she's making it clear that she wants to hold on to it a bit longer.  She extends her lead to 19 with her league-leading 6th pointing of the season.  She's the only multi-win player with 3, no one else has more than one.  She's averaging almost 6.5 points a week and is on pace for 160 for the season.  That's doing work.  Congrats Padma!

Allen Y got 2nd and pops up 5 places from 9th to 4th, passing by Eric, Jeena, Dermo, Allan U and JC.

And after 11 weeks (and averaging less than a point a week) Amir is finally on the board!  Going into the week he was pretty much in last place of regular players, tied with Julius (who has only played once.)  But a 3rd place pops him up a couple of spots, passing by Kurt and Kelly and landing in the 17th spot.

Jeena got 4th and moves up a spot, as does Andy with a scrappy 5th place finish.

And Dermo was the Bubble Boy.

Allan U had gone the last 4 weeks without a pointed, and dropped out of

the Top 9 from 7th to 11th.  He's back with a win in Week 11 and moves up to the 5th spot.  Congrats Allan!

Andy gets his third and best pointing of the season with a 2nd place.  He hasn't found himself in the Top 9 yet this season, but he does move up 6 spots to 12th and is only 6 points out now.

Either Padma or Remo have held the top spot in 8 of the 11 weeks of the season, with Remo holding it the last 3 weeks.  With a 3rd this weekend Padma takes it back.  Congrats Padma.

Nicole closes the gap a bit in the Las Flores Championship with a 4th, and Judy was the scrappy 5th.
