Padma (again)!!!

the very least you'll win the Mini-Season and you're well on your way to the Final Table.  And who is it that's at it again?  Padma.  I was long gone and catching z's by the time this went down, so I have no insight (and no contributing field reporters) to how it happened, but well done Padma, congrats!  She is now the overall leader.  

Judy gets her first pointing of the season with a strong 2nd, and Remo gets his third pointing in a row with a 3rd, moving up from 9th, to 5th and now 2nd in those 3 weeks.

Eric got 4th, Jagu 5th, and Dermo was the Bubble Boy.

him and Padma and Remo were pretty short stacked, probably hoping for some way to find a way to 2nd place.  The crappy players like me were already out and at the cash table, but someone next to me (oddly I can't remember who) pulled Padma aside and said "Padma, I already know how this is going to end.  You're going to take Chester out and take first place."  

Maybe not the exact words, but pretty much.  I laughed a bit until not too much longer after that, we hear a bunch of excitement/grumbling/mild profanity from the table, and sure enough Chess is out in 3rd and Padma is stacking chips.  (And for some reason apologizing to Chess too.  I can't imagine a scenario where that would be appropriate.)  

Whoever prognosticated that Padma win should buy a lottery ticket immediately.  (I apologize for not remembering who you were, sure you were sitting right next to me, but that was days ago and I've moved on.)

Congrats Padma, well done!  It's her first pointing of the season and she moves into tied for 3rd with Remo, who finished in 2nd, and Jeena, who did not play and still has the opportunity to buy her point and thereby move into sole possession of 3rd.  (Padma missed Week 1 but passed on the opportunity to buy her point.)

Mike got 4th while playing both the final table and the cash game table simultaneously, because that's what you do after you win both titles in the previous season.  Like Ben-Gay, you just rub it in.

I got 5th (after Chester rivered a Jack with J-9 against my pkt 9's) and Kurticus was the Bubble Boy.

position after a JC raise in front of him.  Jeremiah, Jagu and Kumo fold back to JC, who tanks for a bit.

"You have Aces?"  - Chess

JC calls and shows... Aces.  Chess shows pkt 7's and is ecstatic about it.  Why?

"This is the best hand to kill Aces with!  I think statistically I'm ahead."  - Chess 

Flop comes A-8-8 (boat for JC.)

"Well not anymore."  - Chess, on his way to the rail.

Welcome to the kickoff of the 21st season of the BPC, it was great to see all the regulars, some new faces, and some blasts from the past.

Like our very own "monkey with a shotgun" Julius.  He hasn't been around in a while, but certainly has not forgotten his style of firing first and asking questions later.  I don't know who he took them from but when we consolidated to the final table Julius had a mountain of chips.  I think he had some place to be (like a Madden '15 game scheduled with Gage or something) because he went into full all-in mode in just about every hand.  That's always a scary sight but fortunately I was lucky enough to end up on the right side of enough of them to take down first place.

Similarly, Jagu survived the onslaught to take down second place.  (He and I played in probably the longest heads up match I've ever participated in at the BPC, which I usually have no time or patience for, but it was quite fun.  Same time next week Jagu?)

Julius took 3rd, a great showing after not playing for quite a few seasons.  Hopefully he'll play the full season again (but mostly at someone else's table.)

JC took 4th and is the first to draw blood in the JC-Chess bet.  (Did that bet ever get finalized?  If not it should.)

And Derek is back this season as well after a long hiatus, and finishes in the scrappy 5th spot.

Jeremiah was the Bubble Boy, something that he finished with more than once last season, and enough to keep him out of the Final Table.  I doubt that will happen in back to back seasons.
