Season 10 Week 12

BPC Season 10 - Week 12
-----------------------

Sort of a small crowd last night, only 18 players so after starting with 3 tables we collapsed pretty quickly down to two.  And we got started pretty close to 7:30 as well, which is the good news.  The bad news is that I was sent to the kiss n cry area pretty shortly after that, after getting my pkt Kings cracked yet again, this time by Judy (who was proud enough of her 5-7 after hitting a Q-J-7 flop that she called all my oversized bets long enough to catch a 5 along the way,) and then losing the rest to Chester on his pkt 9's vs. my pkt J's.  The 9 always hits.  And of course I had a last longer bet with Chess to add some additional steam and nuggets to the already hefty pile of poo.

So I got nothing else to report, but it looks like Kurt dodged enough poo to again place in the points for the 6th time this season (more than anyone else).  His 5th place finish is enough to push him once again to the top overall spot, which he seems pretty intent on keeping.  Jagu got 4th and is in 4th overall, and Potts grabs 3rd place.  The 9 points pushes him into a tie for second with Chester.

Heads up came down to Jeena and Eric, who battled it out for a bit, but in the end The Milkman delivered and took down first place.  The 12 and 15 points respectively are enough to push both of them into the Top 9 (and me out to the curb again.)

Eric also takes a commanding lead in the third Mini-Season.  His first and second places in the first two weeks of the Mini-Season already put him at 27 points.  If he just buys his points for the next three weeks, he'll still have more points than the previous two Mini-Season winners.

Season 10 Week 11

BPC Season 10 - Week 11
-----------------------

Chester is back at his winning ways, taking first place last night, and taking over the overall top spot from Kurt, who held on to it for the last 5 weeks in a row.  Second goes to Eric, who was down to a pretty short stack late in the game, but doubled up through me on a good (?) call on my stone cold bluff to take me out.  He had crap, but I had crapper.  That was the first pointing for Eric all season, and a second place is a good one.  Now only 3 regulars, Arjan, Judy and Cupcake, have not pointed yet this season.  Last longer anyone?

Kikoo, or someone who looked like him but with the mute button on all night, takes down the 3rd spot for Team SoupOrSalad.  I got 4th, boo.  Its enough to squeek me back in to the Top 9 though.  And Kurt gets the scraps of 5th place, putting him just a single point behind Chess

Mike Hot Boilers was the Bubble Boy for the week.

Season 10 Week 10

BPC Season 10 - Week 10
-----------------------

[8:10]  Week 10 of Season 10, its after 8:00 and are cards in the air?  No.  Nothing in the air except the sweet smell of onion enchiladas.  Delicious, but we can only hope that Chess goes out early, it may get ugly after he's had a chance to process them.

[8:30]  Eric makes it 500 from under the gun, and I look down and see pkt K's.  I don't have the fear I used to, at least I can smooth call without breaking out in a cold sweat.  We end up with 5 callers on the 500 bet, and I like the way the pot is forming so early in the round, and I'm guessing the other 4 guys and gals have each other's Aces.  Lets see a flop, it comes... A-A-5.  Well, so much for that theory.  Eric bets out, and I gotta insta-muck, especially with 3 people behind me.  Surprisingly, no one else calls though, and Eric shows his A and scoops the pot he built up for himself.

[9:05]  Sungina's already short stacked and pushes for about 5000 with a flop of 8-9-2.  Jagu calls with J-10 open ended straight draw, and Sunj shows pkt K's.  Sorry Sunj, this can only end badly.  For some reason, Sunj starts yelling for a Queen, and of course it hits on the river, making Jagu's straight and proving once again Bagu's theory of the 5th dimension.  Sunj says "shit", and makes her exit.

At some point later we're down to 2 tables, blinds are going up and I'm getting a little short stacked.  Again I'm in early position, and Potts bumps it up for about a third of my stack.  I look down and once again, see my buddies the pkt K's.  I just smooth call, actually hoping for some callers behind me, and a couple of people hop in for the party.  Flop comes A-Q-7.  Damn, the Ace always comes doesn't it.  Potts bets out enough to push me all in, and I hate the call because I know I'm behind, but call anyway with the blind hope that Potts is betting with a Q and not an A.  Nope, he has the Ace, and my little buddies can't find one of their brothers, and I'm out.  Chester's still in, and those onion enchilada's have to to be working their way through.  I suspect we'll be hearing from them again soon, so I make my break for the door before Chess has a chance to lock them.

Sucks that I still can't win with pkt K's, but at least both of these times were more my fault.  To me, if the money goes in when you're ahead and you lose, then that's a bad beat.  If the Ace comes on the flop before all your money goes in, then that's bad luck.  If the Ace comes on the flop and you still call, then that's just bad play.

[9:26]  "Wow, you're a tight player."  - New guy to Omar.

So that's all I saw, but apparently our overall leader Kurt made it to the edge but couldn't get past the bubble.  He still holds on to the overall top spot because Bagu and Jagu went point-free.  Jeena gets the crumbs of 5th place for the second week in a row, and her third of the season, just enough to keep her clinging onto the final Top 9 spot.  Omar and Mike get 4th and 3rd respectively, and new guy Morty (Marty?  Morgan?  Mortimer?) grabs second.  And Mr. Potts, who left me hanging at the altar on Superbowl Sunday, takes the first place points and money.

And finally, the winner of Mini-Season 2 is Earl!!!  He didn't point last night, but his first and second from the previous two weeks were enough to win him the 250,000 bonus chips.  Congratulations, but on an administrative note, Earl's guest pass privileges have been suspended indefinitely, per Article 422 section 7a dash 11.3 of the BPC bylaws.  Earl, if you wish to have your guest privileges reinstated, please submit your petition in writing to the BPC Executive Committee.

Season 10 - Week 9

BPC Season 10 - Week 9
----------------------

Sorry, not much of a write up again this week.  I actually made it pretty far and was approaching the bubble so got to see a lot of hands, that is until Mr. Hall 6-outer'd me to take all my chips.  It stung too, he was the little blind, and I was the big blind, and everyone folds to us.  Lay it down Champ, just lay it down, nothing good can come out of it.  There's no money in the pot, why bother.  But noooooo, he has to go ahead and bet, Mr. Greedy.  I know he's got nothing, he's just trying to pilfer my big blind.  But ha!  I got a strong Ace.  I should have just shoved all in right then in there, we both have around 15,000, and he bet out about 4000.  Nah, no problem, just call here and I'll shove after the flop after his continuation bet.  Board comes rags and I'm positive he just wiffs at it, and sure enough he bets out at it.  I'm positive he has air, so I push all in.  He calls reluctantly, and then rivers me with the 6 outer.  I'm sent to the slopes.

The other hand I remember from the night was earlier when we were still with 3 tables.  Nicole and Jagu both have over 10,000, and end up all-in together.  Jagu shows pkt Q's for an overpair of the board, but Nicole has the bullets.  No help for Jagu on the turn, but the Queen shows up on the river for a heart breaking 2 outer, and Nicole is sent to the rail.

But Jagu wasn't done there.  When it was down to 4 players, Jeff Hall was the chip leader (thanks in part to the chips he bad beat from me) and he has Jagu all in with maybe 6000 left.  Jeff has JJ and Jagu has Q-5.  Jagu promptly hits the 5 on the flop to make it interesting, then the Q on the river.  Later, Jeff just call's Jagu's big blind with A-Q, but Jagu flops a full house with 8-3 and doubles up again through Jeff.  And in the last hand of the night for him, The Champ flops trips, but Jagu flops a boat.  Gotta love it.

So somewhere along the way, Kelly lasted long enough to become our second double bubble of the season, and Jeena slips into the points for 5th.  Jeff goes out in 4th with the hands above, and The Professor places in the money for 3rd.  Jagu is able to ride his nine lives all the way to second, but the story of the week is Steven, who is channeling his alter-ego Earl.  Apparently Earl is a much better player than Steven, and far more protective of his chips.  Earl takes down the top spot for the week, and with his second place for last week he is not only in the Top 9, he's taken over first place for Mini-Season 2 with 28 points, just a couple ahead of Kurt and Bagu.  Nicely done.  And he's only played 3 weeks this season!

But ok Earl, you've had your fun, please bring Steven back.
