Season 11 - Week 4

BPC Season 11 - Week 4
----------------------

No extending of the Doobie for Ruby, she was pushed out early in a big hand with Nicole.  I think Ruby flopped top two pair against Nicole's set or something along those lines.  Rough luck for Ruby, big double up for Nicole early in the night.

Sungina took it down last night.  She came to the table with plenty of chips, and they just kept coming.  She did the rest of us a favor by taking out Arjan and Steve on the bubble on the same hand.  Karrie took down yet another second place for Team KarJacked, this after flying directly in from Chi-Town to Taffeta.  With two 2nd places in two showings for Karrie, she's working on a little Doobie of her own, and showing who the anchor of Team KarJacked really is.  The 12 pts puts them at 26 for the Mini-Season, and within striking distance of Ruby.

Milkman got 4th place, and he is also mathematically in the hunt for the Mini-Season points.  With a first and a Ruby blank, he'll tie with Ruby.  Everyone else is out of contention.

I got 3rd, and I feel comfortable saying that the Curse of the Kings is behind me.  They've actually held up for me a couple times this season, and they played a big role in a key hand last night.  There's a bunch of limpy limpers in pre-flop and Jeena over bets it all-in.  Very fishy, I confidently put her on 10's and I call with my pkt Q's feeling pretty good about things.  She turns over pkt K's.  Damn, got that one wrong, but was lucky enough to find a Q on the river, sending Jeena to the rail.

Nicole held on to Ruby's chips long enough to make it into the points for 5th place.

Season 11 - Week 3

BPC Season 11 - Week 3
----------------------

Earl:    "Eric, I ain't got no milk today, how come you didn't deliver it?"
Milkman: "The last carton of milk I delivered had your poker game on the side of it."

Nice.

The Milkman takes it down last night for his first pointing, and Ruby is still en fuego, finishing in second place and completing the trifecta with a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in the first three weeks of this young season.  If she can finish the next two weeks with a 4th and 5th we'll have to name that feat after her.  The Ruby-Slam.  The Ruby Roll.  The Ruby Doobie.

In the meantime, she's got a monster lead for the mini-season bonus chips.  Bagu pulls in 4th for his first pointing, and Jeremiah and Chess take 4th and 5th respectively.  Arjan is the bubble boy.

Season 10 - MAD Award results

And this year's winner of the Mike Alzona Donkey (MAD) Award is... CUPCAKE!

Voting was actually close in the beginning, and it was shaping up to be a pretty tight 4 way horse race until The CUP started to pull away with it, eventually ending up with almost double the vice donkey Earl.

That makes two seasons in a row for The Cup, if he can pull off the trifecta next season then he'll match Julius' streak.  Hopefully Julius will be back next season to defend his record though.

In the meantime, congratulations Cup!  I overheard you were looking at open houses yesterday.  I'm assuming its so you have more room for all the trophies?

Season 10 - Week 25

BPC Season 10 - Week 25
-----------------------

And Season 10 is in the books!  Razor thin margins separated a whole pack of players from the coveted Top 9 spots.  With so much at stake and still up for grabs, there was probably more chance for movement in the last game of the season this year than any prior.  However, as far back as we can remember, certainly the last few seasons, there has never been any movement or change in the final 9 in the final week.

That changed this year.  Let's start with this week's winner... Padma!  Padma missed 10 weeks this season, including a stretch of 6 weeks in a row traveling to far off lands.  Because of that, she was not really in contention for the Top 9, but she did come to play the role of a spoiler, and ends the year with a win.  She had two first places and a second place for the season, showing she knows how to finish.  Do not underestimate the Padma Power.

The big winner for the week though is RUBY.  She took down 2nd place last night, and the 12 big points gives her 78 and pushes her solidly into the Top 9 at 6th place.  Great job Ruby!  Ruby also missed 7 weeks of the season, and only bought one of those points.  The one point was the differentiator in the Mini-Season though, giving her 27 against Hee's 26.  Help yourself to 250,000 bonus chips Ruby.

With a 3rd place finish last night, The Milkman finishes the season strong and in 3rd place overall tied with Chess.  Nicole got 4th place, but comes up just a bit short, needing a 3rd place to make it to the big show.  I'm very curious to hear how those last few hands played out.  Kurt got 5th place, pointing for the first time in 10 weeks.  Its enough to give him overall second place all to himself, but not enough to take over the lead from this season's point champion... THE PROFESSOR!!!  Congrats BAGU, well done, way to get the people!

This week's bubble boy was Cake, who is playing well and looking even better.  He's slimmed down so much that Chess thinks we may need to change his name to Rice Cake.  Probably the funniest thing I've ever heard Chess say, and although he came up short in his quest for back-to-back points championships, he does get a gold star from the Humor Committee.  That was the 3rd bubbling for team KarrieCake, more than anyone else except for Arjan.

So let's talk about the losers.  First was Mike, who after a pretty horrific all around season, was still in contention and could have made it in with a win.  Unfortunately his pkt Aces got cracked early against A-K suited.  All you can do is get your money in when you're ahead, and let the poker gods take over the rest.  Apparently Mike really pissed off the poker gods this season though.  But we all know he'll be back very soon.

Omar was only a single point out of the Top 9, and needed a pointing of any kind this week to get in.  Or he could have just bought some of the points for the 4 weeks he missed.  Just a single point would have put him in a tie for 9th, all 4 would have given him 8th place to himself.  Instead he went out a little early, and there was a collective sigh of relief at the table that a major threat had been dispatched.

Potts and I both needed a 4th place or better to make it in, but we came up short.  We are 2 of 5 people who will have 70 points and not make it in.  That calls for a sad face... :(  The good news is that I had pkt K's and not only did they hold up but I tripled up with them.  The bad news is that the triple up still only put me at about $1.50, but it did feel good and maybe its a sign that the curse has ended.  I went out with pkt 10's, which apparently is not that great a hand, especially when you run into Kurt's pkt Q's.

And then there's our beloved Judy, who completes her near perfect season with yet another blank.  She'll be back though, if not here then maybe taking on the big guns in Vegas again.  Note however I do say near perfect, because although she did finish the season without any pointings, she did miss two weeks, so there is room out there for someone to best her record.

Finally, we have Earl and Jeremiah, who find themselves teetering on the edge and tied for 9th place at 73 pts.  And that means extra innings for those two, who will play in a heads up playoff game tonight.  Winner goes to the show, loser goes to the best-of-the-rest table.  In a common theme, Earl missed 6 weeks and did not buy any of those points.  Had he bought them all, he would have had 6th place all to himself, rather than be fighting for his Final Table life tonight.

Thanks everyone for yet another great season, and congratulations to all the main table winners!

Season 10 - Week 24

BPC Season 10 - Week 24
-----------------------

Jeena took it down last night, and the win is HUGE for her, pushing her up to solo 7th place and in a relatively safe position.  Just relatively though, because there's still plenty of scenarios where she gets bumped out.  I think the last 4 positions are still open, but I'll leave the what-if scenarios to Jeremiah who usually does a pretty good job of mapping it all out.  He's got his work cut out for him this year though.

Chester got second place, ending a very arid spell for him.  But the 12 points pushes him ahead of Kurt for the first time in a while, and within striking distance of the top spot.  I think he needs a second or better, with a blank from Bagu and no first place from Kurt.  Sickness.

Jagu got third and the 9 points really helps his cause.  At 76 points and 3 people behind him, he's not locked in but gotta be feeling kinda good.

Jeremiah bagged 4th place and is back in the Top 9, and Hee got 5th adding just a bit more security for him.  Nicole was the bubble.

One week left!!!!
