After a prolonged 13 week slumber with no pointings, Jagu wakes up and takes down 1st place in the final game of the season. Its his 4th of the season, and along with his 2 2nd places, its pushes him up to 103 points and into 2nd place overall, just behind...
... this year's official Points Champion, Mike!!!
Mike sealed the deal by slipping into 5th place last night, and putting Jagu just out of reach by a couple of points. Had he not done that, we would have had co-champions and a whole lot of controversy on the various prop bets people had. Well done Mikey! I called it from the beginning of the season, and you pulled it off. Its the first thing I've been right about in years. (Just ask Angela.)
Ant got 2nd and was the highest spoiler finisher. He only played in 14 games this season, but still finished respectably high. Hopefully we can get him back as a full time player some time soon.
Last year's Points Champion Steven was on the outside looking in, and needed at least a 3rd place to be in contention. With a valiant effort that's exactly what he got, a 3rd place, and the 9 points are enough to put him in the Top 9. Or would have beenhad bought some of the points for the 6 weeks he missed!!! Or if Kurticus had not gotten 4th place!!!
But he didn't buy them, and Kurt did in fact take control of his own destiny and got 4th place, enough to get him to 71 points and back into the Top 9, just ahead of Steven by 2 points! Steven will be the starting chip leader again at the Final Table, but this year it will be at the Kiddies Table.
Arjan was the Bubble Boy, his second of the season and it was a brutal one. I don't know exactly how it played out, but he was all in with A-Q against Jagu's pkt 4's. Arjan hits on the flop, but Jagu spikes his 2-outer suck out on the river to send Arjan to the rail, and effectively locking in Mike's championship and Kurt's position in the Top 9.
Crazy.
Team KarJacked went into the final game of the season this year the same way they did last year... clinging on to the 9th and final spot. And unfortunately ended the season in the same way... out of the Top 9. This year courtesy of Kurtesy.
Julius has been sweating bullets for a while now after not pointing at all in the home stretch. But he is now officially a member of the BPC May 9!!! His first one ever, and no matter where he finishes it is already a profitable one for him with all the prop bets he had on himself. Congrats Jules!
He is one of 3 first timers at the Final Table. Padma and Charlie didn't point last night, but didn't need to after a season of very solid poker play they already had their seats locked up.
I failed to make it into the Century Club. Loser. But I am the only one to ever finish with 99 points on the button, so I'm starting my own damn club, so there. Feels like high school all over.
Speaking of which, where were the midgets?
