Final 9 and friends

Day 1 ends with two players down and out.  First to go was Mikey, who was never below his starting chips and was on a constant flow of accumulation until he ran into Chester's one card straight flush.  That's right, straight flush.  Naturally Mike had the Ace-high flush.  

I know that feeling, Chess straight flushed me off the Final Table a couple of seasons ago, but a better player probably could have gotten away from my Ace-high flush the way it played out.  I don't think anyone would have laid down Mike's hand.  Except maybe Jeena, you should have let her play instead.

Second out was Julie, who found herself with pkt K's and in the hand with Chess and a Jack high flop.  Turn comes another J and Chess finds a way to get Julie's chips all in. Chess shows the Jack for the win.

The final hand of the night was with the starting chip leaders, JC and Chess, heads up and betting big.  I don't know how the hand played out, I don't even know what the board was, my chips were bagged and tagged and I was grazing in the buffet.  I came back after a long delay to find the two still positioning when I hear "ok I call" from JC.  That call was for another 920K into an already big pot and Chess shows 2-4 off for the win.  Huge, huge hand and Chess deals a serious blow to the season's Points Champion, knocking him down to just under 400K.  Like Lieutenant Dan, chopped at the knees but still plenty dangerous.

Chess was up and down and importing/exporting a lot of chips all night, but after that final hand is the clear chip leader at over 3M, moving up over 1.2M for the day.

The other big mover was Kelly, who gained over 800K and finds herself second in chips.  Here's the rest:

Season 24 - Final Table

Congrats to JC for winning the Season 24 Points Championship!  He had a pretty stellar year and was able to fend off a strong challenge by proverbial champion Chess.  He already has one Final Table title, and now has a chance to join the very rarified air of wire-to-wire champions if he can take it down.

The Final Table participants, chip stacks, and seats have all been set, and we're ready to start Day 1 on Thursday 6/15 at 6:00 sharp. 

Here are the seating and chip counts.  I think it's safe to say I got stuck with the worst seat on the table, with Mikey serving as the meat in a chip leader sandwich directly to my left. 

I think it's also safe to say I have a very photogenic pinky.

And it's done!  Day 3 picked up again on Tuesday (12/13) with 4 players ready to do battle.

PADMA!!!!

Great job Padma!  I think she came into the Final Table as second chip leader, ended day 1 and 2 as chip leader, and now finishes the season as Final Table Champion.  Awesome Job!!!  

Thanks for challenging her Chess, you've unleashed the Kraken.

2nd place was... Jon!

He played great poker the whole way through, mixing it up the entire way and not afraid of playing conservatively or shamelessly throwing chips out with some straight up crap hands.  Well done.

Season 23 - Final Table

For the first time in BPC history, there will be a Day 3 for the Final Table.  Day 1 started on Wednesday and after about 6 hours of play, one player was out.

Day 2 started at about 10:00 am Saturday (another BPC first) but there was a hard stop at 6:00 pm because of previous commitments communicated months ago.

So Day 2 ended before a champion could be declared, but there were 4 more casualties though.  There probably could have been a couple more, but chip stacks seem to be both rising and falling simultaneously.  Players were on fumes and all in on one hand, then back to full strength a few hands later.  Great play surpassed only by great dealing.
